№ 01 / Overview

Architect like the cloud was designed for it.

This Architecting on AWS course covers the fundamentals of building an IT infrastructure on Amazon Web Services. It's designed to teach solutions architects how to optimise the use of the AWS Cloud by understanding AWS services and how those services fit into cloud-based solutions.

The course emphasises AWS cloud best practices and recommended design patterns to help you think through the process of architecting optimal IT solutions on AWS. Case studies throughout the course showcase how real AWS customers have designed their infrastructures and the strategies they implemented.

Who this is for: Solutions architects, IT engineers and senior developers moving into cloud design roles. You should understand basic networking, virtualisation, and one major operating system. You don't need prior AWS experience — but you'll leave with the credential and the case-study practice that makes the SAA-C03 exam feel less like a test and more like a verification.

№ 02 / Outcomes

What you'll walk away with.

  • 01Make architectural decisions on AWS principlesApply AWS recommended architectural principles and best practices to every design choice you make.
  • 02Build scalable, reliable, highly available infrastructureLeverage AWS services to architect for failure — and then build past it.
  • 03Use managed services for flexibility and resiliencyLean into RDS, Lambda, ECS and the rest — so you stop reinventing wheels and start shipping.
  • 04Optimise for cost and performanceRight-sizing, reserved instances, savings plans — make infrastructure efficient without sacrificing performance.
  • 05Apply the AWS Well-Architected FrameworkThe five pillars (operational excellence, security, reliability, performance, cost) — internalised and applied to real workloads.
  • 06Pass the SAA-C03 exam with confidenceBecome an AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate. Stand out in a market where the credential is now table stakes.

Chapter 03 — On the workload
№ 03 / Curriculum

Eight weeks. Nine modules.

Curriculum aligned to AWS's official Architecting on AWS course and the SAA-C03 exam blueprint. Each module pairs lecture with hands-on lab time in a live AWS sandbox.

Regions, Availability Zones, Edge Locations. The IAM model — users, groups, roles, policies. Console, CLI, and SDK basics. We start by making sure the foundations are immovable.
Provisioning virtual machines, instance families, AMIs, EBS. Serverless with Lambda. Container workloads with ECS, EKS and Fargate. When to use which compute primitive.
Implement highly durable and reliable storage systems. S3 storage classes, lifecycle policies, encryption. Block vs file vs object storage and how to pick.
VPC design, public and private subnets, route tables, NAT gateways, Internet gateways. Security groups vs NACLs. VPC peering, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect.
Relational vs non-relational. Multi-AZ, read replicas, backup strategies. DynamoDB partitioning and capacity modes. ElastiCache patterns.
Transparently handle spikes in demand with elastic load balancing and auto-scaling. ALB vs NLB vs CLB. Auto Scaling groups, launch templates, scaling policies.
IAM at depth — policies, roles, federated access. KMS, Secrets Manager, Parameter Store. Encryption at rest and in transit. Shared Responsibility Model.
The five pillars in practice. Use the Well-Architected Framework tool to evaluate a real workload. Trade-offs between cost, performance, security, reliability and operational excellence.
Architect a multi-tier production workload end-to-end and defend the design in a mentor review. Two full-length SAA-C03 mock exams with proctored scoring and gap analysis.

"The sandbox was the difference. Reading about VPC peering is one thing; building it before you forget the lecture is another."

№ 06 / Questions

The questions we hear most.

No. We recommend basic familiarity with networking, virtualisation and one major operating system, but no prior AWS exposure is required. The course is designed to take you from foundation to Architect-Associate readiness.
Yes. You get a live AWS account during the course for hands-on labs, plus an after-course computing sandbox so you can keep building once class ends. You don't have to put your personal credit card on the line.
Sit in on the next cohort free of charge. Most students pass on the first attempt; those who don't usually missed one or two service areas and recover quickly with focused mentor sessions.
No — AWS charges the exam fee directly ($150 USD at time of writing, billed through Pearson VUE). We'll walk you through scheduling and proctoring options.
Two evening sessions per week (Tuesday and Thursday, 6:30–9:00pm CT) plus a weekly Saturday lab workshop. Designed for working professionals. All sessions recorded for lifetime access.
Yes — we partner with Mia-Share / Meritize for tuition financing with monthly payment plans. See Financial Aid for full details.
